How hygienic and effective are your current strainers?
Typical perforated strainer elements have openings that are too large to separate small particulates, creating a risk of foreign materials getting through the element.
To reduce the orifice size, wire mesh overlays are commonly installed over the perforated elements. However, wire mesh is not permitted by the 3-A Sanitary Standards, because particulates can get wedged in the crevices between the wires where they can create microbial risk. Additionally, the wire mesh is fragile and easily damaged when it cleaned, creating an additional risk of breaching the strainer overlay and becoming a foreign material hazard itself.
The alternative to perforated strainers with wire mesh overlays is wedge wire. Wedge wire is a V-shaped wire element that is spot welded onto longitudinal support wires typically in a spiral. It can be supplied with very small gaps between the wires, but even large flat particulates can still slide between the wires. These V-shaped wire elements have been allowed by sanitarians as a compromise in the 3-A Sanitary Standards. They are not truly hygienic, but there were no other cost-effective strainer elements available to strain out small particulates, until now.
Larrote provides fine, hygienic perforated stainless steel overlays that can slide over existing perforated strainer elements. The perforated overlays can be easily removed for manual cleaning, which is required for strainer elements smaller than 1/32". The perforated holes are tapered so they are easy to clean, and a visual inspection against a lighted background provides a quick and easy verification that the overlay element is 100% clean.
Larrote strainer overlays provide more effective and hygienic straining to protect your products from foreign materials.
